The project comprised the design and construction of an upgrade of the Paarl Solid Waste Transfer Station from a facility that utilised open top containers to a facility that utilises a static compactor and compaction containers.
The facility consists of a static compactor, hopper and 30m³ compaction containers on a rail and bogey system.
Waste from this transfer station is transported by road in 30m3 hook-lift containers to the licensed Drakenstein Landfill outside Wellington.
